NM Jazz Festival presents<br> Dave Grusin Film Preview and Performance

“Dave Grusin: Not Enough Time” Film Preview, plus Dave Grusin Solo Piano Concert

Each year, the New Mexico Jazz Festival honors legendary jazz artists living here in New Mexico, and this year, along with legendary drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath (at Outpost Performance Space, July 12), the festival honors Oscar and Grammy-winning composer, producer, and jazz pianist Dave Grusin, who is the subject of a feature-length documentary film entitled “Dave Grusin: Not Enough Time.”

This screening is a “special preview" of the full length documentary, which will be released theatrically later this year.. Produced by filmmakers (and well known Santa Fe jazz musicians) Barbara Bentree and John Rangel of Jindojazz Independent Media Productions, and with the full cooperation of Grusin and his family, the film chronicles Grusin’s extraordinary career and features interviews with some of the most important voices in the television, film and recording industries, as well as stories from Grusin about the evolution of the movie and music businesses. Over the past fifty years, Dave Grusin has been nominated for thirty-eight Grammy Awards, eight Academy Awards and four Golden Globes Awards and has performed in concert halls and major Jazz Festivals all over the world. He wrote the scores for such films as “Tootsie,” “On Golden Pond,” “Heaven Can Wait,” “Three Days of the Condor,” and “Milagro Beanfield War," for which he won an Oscar.

He also co-founded GRP Records with Larry Rosen which was the best-selling jazz label for five consecutive years. Their forward-thinking partnership had a monumental impact on the record industry, setting the standard for digital recording fidelity. As a composer, pianist, arranger and producer, Grusin is one of the most prolific American musicians of the past century. Following the film preview, Mr. Grusin will perform a solo piano set of his music after which he will be joined by the filmmakers in a Q & A session.

Tickets: $25 - $45
