Readings & Conversations: Edwidge Danticat with Aja Monet

Lannan presents Readings & Conversations, bringing inspired writers of fiction and poetry, as well as advocates of cultural freedom and liberation, to read from and discuss their work.

Edwidge Danticat’s many books include the novel The Dew Breaker and Krik? Krak!, a collection of short stories that encompass both the cruelties and the high ideals of Haitian life. Of her recent The Art of Death: Writing the Final Story, the New York Times wrote, “This book is a kind of prayer for her mother?an act of mourning and remembrance.” Aja Monet is a poet, activist, and musician and was a featured speaker at the Women’s March on Washington. Her books include My Mother Was a Freedom Fighter and The Black Unicorn Sings.

Tickets: $8 Adult, $5 Senior/Student.
